The INFRACOM conferencing system uses the Compact Transmitter MSI8D to transmit 8 audio channels using infrared light. Using IRad radiators that are directly linked to the MSI8D, the audio signals are transformed into frequency-modulated infrared light and then transferred. By using narrow-band frequency modulation, the original language (OR) and up to seven additional languages can be communicated at the same time on distinct carrier frequencies.
The IRX32 receiver picks up the sent signals, which can subsequently be heard using headphones. The frequency band can be selected and the channels can be turned ON or OFF using small switches on the front panel. Up to 32 transmission channels may be assigned using a rotating switch. Three infrared transmitter diodes enable the technician to monitor without radiators. Eight green LEDs (INT) show whether the interpreter channel is active. The operation mode is indicated by LEDs on the front panel: channel ON (red), and audio signal accessible (green).
